Be a Customer

Owning an online business seems easy at first. You think all you do is take a couple of pictures and post them on social media.

As professionally as possible, I have to say: THAT AIN’T IT!

I tend to over exaggerate my experiences but I strongly feel that it is important to take advantage of what is around you. What I’m trying to say is that if you wish to manage and maintain an online business,  be a customer of another.

A customer has more insight into a business than the owner does because there is neutral ground for judgement.  SME Syndrome kind of clouds our understanding of what we do wrong simply because we woke up early to do this or we sold our car to do that… we are constantly masked by what may seem like our efforts, but fail to understand what the actuality of our operations are.

I’ve recently started sourcing my purchases from online businesses because you can hardly get anything in chain stores nowadays. Zambia’s economy is characterized by members in the private sector doing their absolute thanggg, and I am honoured to be part of the percentage of people making that happen.

Anywhooo, if you can take time to be a customer as a business owner you get to know:

[ X ] If you’re doing too little
[ X ] If you’re doing too much
[ X ] Customer relations
[ X ] Innovative services
[ X ] What to change about your business
[ X ] What to maintain within your business
[ X ] Your potential competitor
[ X ] Your potential partners

If you are willing to take the backseat sometimes and let another person drive in different experiences, it will help you up your game, or appreciate what you already have going!
