I was on Instagram and I saw a girl about to bungee jump. She was suited up, in her harness and all she had to do was jump.
She started to cry, changed her mind and wanted to quit. Her sister was cool and calm and tried to encourage her. She was probably anxious too but never showed it. As she continued to panic, the very assuring guide said “Don’t listen to your mind, listen to me”. He kept saying it in the most soothing tone no matter how much she cried and wanted to walk away. He kept her in her gear and would gently place her back to the edge. Not once did he push her off. All he kept telling her was to listen to him, and not her mind.
We are plagued by the fears we face.
Yknow that Bible verse that says God would not put us in a position He new we would not survive? This situation reminds me of that verse.
I often wonder why I go through what I do and I constantly tell Him I am not a strong soldier, but the matter of fact is that when a situation is tough, it simply reflects the amount of strength you possess or it trains you to gain some for the next challenges. Yes, there’ll be more challenges.
“Don’t listen to your mind, listen to me.”
I store most of my doubt in my mind. We all do. It is where the little voice in our head resides and tells us what we are not capable of.
As the next year quickly approaches, I would like you to listen to God more. That goes for me as well. You are already geared for the journey. You are well equipped and ready. Even if you jump off screaming like the girl in the video did, do not be afraid to take the step that God directed you to.
Happy New Year, Everyone!
