Blinders

Horses have something that we humans have as well called “peripheral vision”. This is the ability to see things around you without turning your head or moving your eyes. Now, Racehorses wear Blinders (see picture attached below) which keeps them from paying attention to their surroundings as they race.

Growing up, it felt odd to be mean to people, and I thought that if you were nice enough, then no one would have any reason to be horrible to you.

As you can tell, that did not work out for long. Because honestly, some people do need to be… “reassured of your crazy” for a lack of better words.

Getting out of this mentality is based on the people you surround yourself with. But what do you do if you were brought up in an environment where that was your only defence mechanism? You were afraid to disappoint the people that loved you? Then you grew up not knowing why things were not going your way, and why you are so sensitive.

Do. Not. People. Please. Easier said than done, I know.

Why did I need an entire entry to communicate something that Instagram does in a quote that simply says “Do you, boo!”? well, I wanted to let you know, in 300 words or less that you began your race on your own

Be grateful for your parents or guardians that brought you up, be thankful for the leaders and teachers you have in your life, be grateful for the opportunities given to you.

Be grateful, but do not succumb to the ways of the world. Remember, we are in the world, but not OF it (Shout out to the Christians! –> not particularly a phrase I thought I would say any time soon in an entry, but here we are).

You have a purpose greater than what you could ever have imagined. The world does seem too big to make an impact, what is so different about you with a dream than the next person? The difference is ACTION.

So basically… Doing stuff!

Taking your work and making use of it with your Blinders in place. Your end goal is the result you want to see, and paying attention to what is around you is distracting you from the main focus.

Funny thing is the people you were trying to please expect you to live your own life, and when they move on to doing other things, realization will be you trying to find the goals you put aside to please other people while they were building. Unfortunately, not many people figure this out until it is too late.

But I am here to tell you to buy/adjust your blinders and focus on your race. Even buy ear muffs if you have to. “But what if I disappoint them???”. I have done enough in my life to say that everyone will always be disappointed in you! No matter what you do! And that is the beauty of life. You do what you want, on your terms to meet your goals, and while you are reaping the benefits of your struggle, people will be upset! And while you constantly try to please them, guess what? THEY WILL STILL BE UPSET!

SO my advice for the day is: Maintain your goals, keep looking forward, and prepare to disappoint the masses!

Okay, so this was NOT 300 words.
