Annnd we are back!
I’ve had people straight up text me and ask me where I get my stock. And that makes me lose my footing because it makes you wonder why they would need that information!
I can’t lie, there is a store here in Zambia that I am motivated by, and I go there sometimes to find out if I should stock up on the product I was thinking about because they might already have it… And at a much cheaper price too. My business model is… “Not having What is on the Shelves to Create Demand on the Market and Shine Bright Like a Diamond and have No Competition and be the Best.”
… Moving on.
So, how do you handle knowing that your products might just be samples for your “customers” out there??? That you might see your product being advertised? And by the way, THAT feeling never gets old. It’s like a punch to your kidney. It’s an awkward sensation as your juvenile mind kicks in and all you want to scream is “BUT THAT’S MINE!”. No dear, nothing is yours.
If you have a supplier for your product–then it is highly likely that you are just another business or person in a sea of others that have found potential in it.
So back to my main question, how do you trust your customers and know they want to enjoy your product and not “source it better”?
You can’t. I know I can’t. I mean you’d have to ask people what they want to use your product for… And frankly speaking, that’s weird.
I once sold an empty perfume bottle. It was a pretty one. I told the customer like 3 times that it was empty and they said it was fine. When I posted up that the bottle was sold. My friend asked me why on earth would someone want a used perfume bottle… I just told them I didn’t know and didn’t want to know as long as they purchased it and I pocketed the money.
We all start businesses because there is something we believe in. It would be FANTASTIC to be the only one that does something… But you’re the inspiration of others. The more people that like your page, the more people monitor your activities. Yes, some might just be interested in you, but others will want to take something from you and do it too or do it better.
You can sell the exact same thing, some features might be different or might just mirror your competitors – but the way you present your product makes it attractive. The way you present your product makes you the first choice! So there are many people out there looking to steal your idea, but then again they can’t market it like you! And even if they do, pocket the money and think on your feet for your next best feature or product.
