‘Whelmed

When I was in uni (shocker), my friend and I came up with a term. We would undergo so much stress we could barely tell if we were underwhelmed or overwhelmed by a situation. So we would just say we were “Whelmed”. That means you are neither here nor there, you can’t define your emotions. But they are very much present.

At some point you can’t even write anymore.

The words are so painfully poetic – it is exhausting. We all fall and feel subject to trying to create these beautiful pieces of happiness or sorrow… When all it is – is just like those paintings that have 4 dots on it and goes for like, $5bn.

We are so fixated on trying to create the best looking tragedy when sometimes, simplicity is all it takes to express yourself.

You get people trying to make money from their emotions, spiraling into nothingness when they realize that all there is to it are just a few letters.

I am happy.
I am sad.

That is it. The whys and the hows can come in much later, but sometimes you just can’t fathom the feeling. Are you overwhelmed, underwhelmed?

You can’t have a conversation about it because you don’t want to hear what people have to say. You don’t want to let them know you can’t express yourself. Plus, you won’t even be able to get the point across to get an answer that will actually help.

In most cases all we can boast about is being alive. And trust me, if your alarm rings in the morning and YOU turn it off, YOU have the energy to get up and get to do what “whelms” you on a daily basis, then rest assured that there is better out there. Every day you open your eyes is an opportunity to do more.

The question is: What if we don’t feel like we cannot do any more than what we have currently done?

No encouragement here. Girl is just tired. Girl is just frustrated. (I’m girl, girl is me.)
