You could be:
- Mid-sit-up in your new workout plan
- Mid-sentence in a submission for a magazine that constantly rejects you
- Halfway through the journey to see someone that never replies to your texts
- In the state of “nobody understands me”
- Buying new stock for a failing business
- Convincing your opinionated friend or family member why The Jesus Life is the best life
- Putting in maximum effort for a job that pays you below the national minimum wage
- Printing your 50th CV this month to take to another company after many have “regretted to Inform you”
- Studying for a subject when you have the lowest grade in the class no matter what you do
- Creating an amazing business plan to send to a company that might just steal your idea
Then you stop to think… WHY BOTHER?
Why do we do anything?
Why can’t we just sit down and let life happen?
Why do we TRY?
The hardest thing to come to terms with is the fact that you can try and try again but end up BACK in the planning stage.
Your efforts and attempts barely match up to the results you see and you get frustrated. Sad. Disappointed.
We have a purpose. And the things that constantly pull us back whether it is passion or requirement is simply part of the journey to get there. Trust me, there is no better feeling than accomplishing what you started.
If the feedback is negative. At least you know YOU did what you had to do…
But imagine if your persistence in the right thing took you further than you ever thought?
Imagine if Noah never bothered? He would perish.
Imagine is Sarah never bothered? She would never have had her baby.
Imagine if Jesus never bothered? WE would not be here.
Determination to do something seems futile especially when the odds are against you. And even more especially when you have tried before and failed.
But…
- Colossians 3:23 – Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
- Proverbs 12:11 – Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense
- Proverbs 14:23 – All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads to only poverty
- Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”
So again, why bother?
Because your goals may not only help you but the world. Because God rewards the
efforts of all those who love Him. Because if you do not do it for you, then no
one else will. It is all about the growth of someone. Beit you or somebody
else.
I want you to know that your
contribution counts. Your consistency counts. And even if things fall through,
there is not one person that God cannot provide for.
So THAT is why you should bother.
