On Instagram, I sometimes see posts that require you adjust the brightness on the screen so that you can see a picture better. Immediately after, I return it to my “bright enough” setting. Because I am not about to reduce my already terrible eyesight.
I had a bright idea today. It was exciting. Fresh. New. Unique. Not to brag- but it was genius. I was ready to get to work on it. And throw it out there. Because it was THAT good!
Then I reduced the brightness on the idea so it was “bright enough” where I could see what I had to, but was not blinded by its present brilliance (humility is futile).
I started to think of logistics. Future plans, implementation… Maintenance… Then my “bright” idea (which is still good by the way) had faced a reality check. And I noticed I had to take a few steps before I put it in motion.
Your ideas are fabulous. They are fascinating and second to none! Trust me. But, is everything set up for its success?
How well can you maintain it?
Will it get from point A to point B without any hitches?
As brilliant as it may be, be cautious with every step you take.
As a business owner that has had to “cancel” already executed plans because they didn’t catch on or… The delivery was poor or… We didn’t know how to reach the masses – I know what it is like to have that brightness killed by your audience.
Be the one to critique your own ideas. Don’t hold back. And don’t be blinded by how excited you are at first. Entrepreneurship is about planning. I’ve failed to plan before. Sometimes it works out… Sometimes you have to delete the posts so it looks like it never happened.
What’s my point again?… Oh yes.
As an entrepreneur, you owe it to yourself NOT to be blinded by your bright Ideas- examine the idea thoroughly before execution.
Bright Idea – Adjust Brightness – Examine – Execute!
